On January 11, 2005, Amparo Edelmira lost
much more than her family's home during the
devastating floods and mudslides that struck
Tijuana that day.

She lost  her 5 year old son.

During the catastrophe that took his life,
her family's home was destroyed
and her property was rendered uninhabitable.
Patricia and Rene Tapia suffered a tragedy of
their own that same day.

Another mudslide destroyed their Tijuana home.

They lost their two daughters, ages 8 and 12, in
the horrific incident.
With the help of Build A Miracle, the Edelmira and Tapia families  now have new homes
with solid floors, strong walls, and stable roofs over their heads.
Six families in Tijuana were evicted from their makeshift homes in the spring of 2006.
Their homes were located on land they thought they owned.
But the man who sold it to them was a swindler - he didn't own the land he sold them.
Kicked out of their homes, and with nowhere else to go, they lived amongst
the filth and disease in the city dump.
Build A Miracle rallied the troops and, in a short period of time, began construction

This was our most ambitious
building project to date.
The result is a community that provides
healthy homes, educational opportunity,
and community support...
A Build a Miracle community
of six new homes built adjacent to two existing Build A Miracle homes in Salvatierra.
A separate structure being built nearby serves as a community center, computer lab, and day care center.
